Vanessa James is available to give performance readings from her new book, Shakespeare’s Genealogies. Twenty-four of Shakespeare’s plays and dramatic poems contain characters that are genealogically related. James will discuss how these historical and mythological family relationships make, through jealousy, lust, passion and murder, a significant impact on the plots of the plays. She will also talk about Shakespeare’s own family tree and his descendants, including a famous poet and playwright who may have been his illegitimate son. Vanessa will launch her speaking series at the Library of Congress on November 7th.
